You have one day. You've never been to New York. Let's make it count without exhausting you.

**9:00 AM — Start at The Battery.** Take the subway to Bowling Green, walk out, and you're at the southern tip of Manhattan with Lady Liberty in the harbor. Skip the Statue of Liberty ferry (lines are brutal, half-day lost). Instead, walk the waterfront, then head up into the Financial District.

**10:30 AM — Walk the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn.** The walkway starts a few blocks north at City Hall. The walk takes 30-40 minutes and the views in both directions are iconic. Stay on the pedestrian side (cyclists take the other).

**11:30 AM — DUMBO & Brooklyn Bridge Park.** You'll exit the bridge right into DUMBO. Take the famous Washington Street photo of the Manhattan Bridge framing the Empire State. Walk down to Brooklyn Bridge Park along the water. Grab a slice at Juliana's Pizza.

**1:30 PM — Ferry back to Manhattan.** The NYC Ferry from Pier 1 (or Wall St/Pier 11) is $4 and gives you a harbor ride Statue of Liberty included.

**2:30 PM — Greenwich Village.** Subway or walk up to the Village. Wander Bleecker, Carmine (Joe's Pizza if you want a real slice), Washington Square Park. Street musicians in the park, chess tables, the marble arch.

**4:00 PM — The High Line.** Take the subway to 14th St/8th Ave. The High Line elevated park runs from Gansevoort Street (south entrance) to 34th Street. Walk the whole thing, or stop at the Hudson Yards end.

**6:00 PM — Top of the Rock.** Book a timed-entry ticket online for 6:15 PM (just before sunset). Watch the city turn gold and then purple as the lights come on across Manhattan. Stay for the night skyline.

**8:00 PM — Dinner.** You're hungry and you've earned it. A good meal nearby: Keens Steakhouse (since 1885), The Modern at MoMA, or walk to Koreatown on 32nd Street for Korean BBQ.

**You'll have walked about 7 miles and seen more of NYC than most tourists see in three days.**
