Every Saturday, 100+ food vendors line up on the Williamsburg waterfront — the country's largest open-air food festival, with the best skyline view in Brooklyn.

Smorgasburg started in 2011 as a humble Brooklyn food flea market. Now it's the largest open-air food market in the country, drawing 20,000+ people every weekend to sample 100+ vendors along the East River waterfront. Ramen burgers were invented here. Bespoke Korean fried chicken, Burmese tea leaf salad, pineapple soft-serve in a carved fruit, duck confit tacos, salted egg yolk brownies — the diversity of what's being made here is genuinely unmatched anywhere in America.

Come hungry. Come early (11am opening) to beat the lines. Pace yourself — sample small from 5-6 vendors rather than committing to one big meal. The view of Manhattan across the river is the free bonus.

**Local tip:** Williamsburg location runs Saturdays April-October, 11am-6pm. A Prospect Park (Breeze Hill) edition runs Sundays. Go in spring or fall — summer heat gets brutal on the asphalt. Most vendors take cash and card; ATMs on-site.

**Best for:** A lunch adventure, food explorers, groups that want different things, a perfect Brooklyn Saturday.
